Q: I'm totally new to this, so I don't know what materials to use or what tools to buy. I'm looking to create an outdoor model/sculpture of a face about 4 x 3 ft that will be hung on the side of my garden. Any ideas?
A: The best way is to use chicken mesh and wire. Make a rough frame of timber and wire. Bend the chicken wire and attach to the frame moulding it into your image you want. With PVA and newspaper layer the frame letting each one dry until you have the finished work. Then paint and protect with yacht varnish.
A local business needs a sculpture to put on their front facade but they can't afford metal or anything expensive. What would be the best option for a cheap, hopefully light-weight material that would stand up to weather?
