Q: We have had this painting for a very long time.Its an old oil paint .My dad has had it for 30 years . .he got it from his boss when his boss retired 30 yrs ago .My dads boss had got it from a art gallery or muesum.We cant remember which.Anyway it looks really old .Its dated 18and the rest is covered.On the right hand side it has a sighnature that is paint and its Tmoran .Thomas moran.Now we...
A: Send a photo of the painting to the appropriate Embassy and they will forward it to the country of origin. You should receive a response from the museum of the country that the knows who the painter is and how much is is worth in their currency.
I have done this with a painting of King Oscar of Sweden and Norway and sent the photo to the Palace. They sent the photo to experts and told me who painted it, although it was signed. I could not read the signature, but the museum knew who painted it and when.
