Q: What would I need to get started in oil painting and about how much would this cost? Also, what is liquid medium and do I need it? Do the store bought canvases already come primed?

A: The medium is turpentine, you will also need some basic oils and brushes. Store bought canvases will almost always be primed. Do not worry about expensive paints, brushes or canvases, the difference is rarely worth it. Get a pack of paints, approx 6 as it's cheaper at this stage than buying individual tubes, just don't buy the very small ones.
